AHRC funded Doctoral Studentships in Continental Philosophy, University of Dundee
The Philosophy Department at the University of Dundee is delighted to invite applications for PhD studentships in continental philosophy. These places have become possible through the involvement of the College of Arts and Social Sciences in the AHRC (Arts & Humanities Research Council) Doctoral Training Partnership Scotland. We particularly welcome research proposals and applications which relate to the following philosophers or topics: aesthetics, art practices, Deleuze, desire, experimental art, Gadamer, Heidegger, hermeneutics, identity, Lyotard, Nietzsche, political economy, psychoanalysis, Ricoeur, Sartre, technology or Vattimo. We also encourage interdisciplinary and inter-institutional proposals.
Because of the extremely competitive nature of the review process, applicants should read carefully the guidance notes provided at the link below (How to Apply). In particular, please study the AHRC application form provided on the SGASH website under “Guidance for applicants,” which will need to be completed should your application be accepted by the University of Dundee.
Deadline
Deadline for application to the Dundee PhD programme: Monday, 22 December 2014.
(Please note the actual deadline for the AHRC competition is much later. However, in order to be eligible, you must first make an application to the University of Dundee.)
Eligibility
The studentships are open to UK and EU applicants and will cover tuition fees and a yearly tax-free maintenance grant (UK students only). To be considered for an award, candidates must have applied to study at the University of Dundee through the UKPASS application system and be in receipt of a conditional or unconditional offer of a place on the philosophy PhD programme.

Philosophy at Dundee
The Philosophy Programme specialises in continental philosophy and offers a vibrant, friendly community with strong interdisciplinary ties to disciplines in the School of Humanities and the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design.
