The University of Roehampton and the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain (PESGB) are pleased to announce the call for applications for the second Undergraduate Philosophy of Education Summer School. From June 26th to June 28th, fifty places are offered for undergraduates on the beautiful campus in south London to meet, debate and learn with other undergraduates. Workshops will be led by international scholars including: Professor John White (Institute of Education), Professor Doret de Ruyter (Amsterdam Free University), Professor Lorraine Foreman-Peck (University of Oxford), Dr Roger Marples (University of Roehampton).

The School of Philosophy at UEA is a vibrant international research community with highly distinctive research strengths, including innovative, interdisciplinary fields (philosophy of the arts, philosophy of nature and the environment, philosophy of linguistics, metaphilosophy) as well as fundamental traditions in Western thought (Greek philosophy, Kant, the Wittgensteinian tradition).
There are up to 13 studentships available:
• 1 AHRC Studentship – available to UK or EU PhD applicants to the School of Philosophy
• 2 University Studentships – available to any PhD applicant to the School of Philosophy
• 10 Faculty Studentships – available to any PhD applicant to any of the faculty’s nine Schools

The Department of Philosophy and the Centre for Advanced Studies at Nottingham will support, through financial contribution and mentoring of the application, a candidate for the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships scheme.

The deadline for applications to be submitted online via the Leverhulme Grant Application System is 4.00pm on 8th March 2012.
There is an internal process prior to that, designed to strengthen an application, with deadlines as follows:
9th February 2012 first drafts to be submitted;
1st March 2012 final versions, prior to submission to Leverhulme
The Department invites expressions of interest from candidates whose work coheres with departmental strengths in:
· Aesthetics and the philosophy of art, especially where these issues connect with psychology and the philosophy of mind
· Ethics, meta ethics, and the application of ethical ideas to policy issues
· Metaphysics and the Philosophy of the Sciences
· Mind and language
· Epistemology
Expressions of interest should consist of
1. CV;
2. Brief statement of eligibility;
3. Two-page outline of research project based on the Leverhulme guidelines and including: aims, objectives, methodology
and outcome (e.g. publication plans).

Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship (Philosophy) Competition 2012
The Department of Philosophy at the University of York has committed resources to supporting a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow from 2012-15.
We propose to hold a competitive selection process and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates. The Department has particular strengths in Philosophy of Mind, Ethics and History of Philosophy, but will consider applications in all sub-disciplines.
Before applying candidates should ensure that they are eligible for a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship (http://www.leverhulme.ac.uk/funding/ECF/eligibility.cfm) in the current round. Candidates should also make contact with the member of the Department closest to their area to discuss the suitability of pursuing their project at York. Informal enquiries may also be made to the Head of Department (Prof Tom Stoneham, tom.stoneham@york.ac.uk) or the Director of Research (Prof Paul Noordhof, paul.noordhof@york.ac.uk).
Applications should be emailed to the Department Administrator, Mrs Julie Kay (julie.kay@york.ac.uk) by 12 noon on Friday 3rd February 2012. The successful candidate will be notified on or before the 13th February 2012 and will be offered professional support in completing their application to the Leverhulme Trust before the deadline of 8th March.

(1) A statement confirming eligibility for the Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship 2012. Please include dates of doctoral vivas and other pertinent information in this statement.
(2) A CV detailing qualifications, employment history, area of specialization, publications and other research activities (e.g. conference papers).
(3) Names, email addresses and, if possible, telephone numbers of two referees.
(4) Research Proposal (maximum 2000 words). This should contain sections on research questions, context and dissemination plans. It may also include a section on impact.
(5) A writing sample (article or book chapter).
